FIONA made it !......

Hello All,

Just to let you know that I made it round the Marathon through the heat and the crowd in 4hrs 6min 14 sec.
It was such an incredible experience that I haven't quite returned to earth yet.
It is so hard to pick out the most memorable points of the day, from the gathering at Greenwich, the anticipation and excitement at actually reaching the starting line of the Marathon, to the running through the streets lined with such incredible support- a true Carnival atmosphere, from a man standing on his doorstep sounding a bugle as we ran past, or Elvis performing outside one of the many pubs which laid on live music to encourage us, the people shouting my name as I struggled between mile 17-21 trying so hard to help get me going again, offering jelly babies or oranges, seeing my family so excited to see me at mile 22, or finding that extra inner strength that I didn't know existed, which allowed me to run as fast as my legs could carry me up the last 800m to the finish line people shouting my name as I ran past. I felt like a sporting hero.
The amount of goodwill from complete strangers and generosity from friends and acquaintances has humbled me. It is not the most sensible thing to do, run through the streets of London with 36000 strangers, in the blistering heat for a several hours and lots of miles but through your support I have managed to raise over £4000 for an amazing charity. www.justgiving.com/fionarae

Thank you so much, you have made it all so worthwhile.
Fiona Rae.
