Following on from the success of last year’s BSOE weekend workshop in Shrewsbury, we
have organised another exciting weekend of enamelling workshops in this lovely old venue.

Van Long is an experienced enamel artist with an international reputation who creates panels, mainly on copper sheet. She has a painterly approach to enamelling and has gained valuable knowledge
of the ways in which enamel can be applied expressively and further developed by over-firing in order to extend their effects. She will demonstrate the amazing effects that can be achieved by over-firing certain jewellery enamels on copper. A trained sculptor, Van will also show us inspiring techniques using corrugated copper shim.

Ruth Ball is also an internationally regarded enameller with a successful career as enamel artist, writer and teacher. Last year she showed us some wonderful panels she had made using photographic images of the urban landscape. Using these and other work as inspiration, she will show creative approaches to making small enamel panels using screens and mixed methods. See her portfolio pages on http://www.ruthballdesign.co.uk/.

Bring your own black & white photographs to make into screens.

These workshops should interest jewellers as well as panellists, as all methods can be used on a small scale if necessary. Places are limited to 10 and are for both days, allocated on a first come basis.
